Academic Focus Essay: In three to four pages, tell us the story of the motivations (experiences, goals, and/or commitments) that have led you to your interest in the study of social justice and community organizing. What specific topics and issues do you want to research? How do you envision your participation in social justice work upon completion of this program?
Please note that the faculty reading your essays are assessing that both your writing voice is passionate and personal as well as your writing skills, to ensure your success in a graduate program. If you have a sample of a scholarly paper from prior undergraduate or graduate work, please submit that in addition to your essay although this is not a requirement.
